The trip to Greenwich, a World Heritage Site takes just over an hour. Visiting Greenwich is the ideal day out, especially so on a Sunday when the covered market comes to Greenwich. Leaving at 12 noon and returning at 6.30pm dinner is booked at Porters at 7.30pm.
As the River Thames weaves its way through London from Westminster Pier to Greenwich, there is history around every bend and the best way to see the sights and splendour is from the deck of one of City Cruises luxury Riverliners. Visiting Greenwich is the ideal day out, you can learn about Britain's seafaring history at the National Maritime Museum (free entry) Discover the home of Greenwich Mean Time, visit the famous Cutty Sark tea clipper and explore the numerous antique and collectables shops and market (Thursday to Sundays only) There are numerous river side pubs where you can enjoy an inexpensive lunch.
On departure at 5.20pm you can enjoy watching London's infamous rush hour, from the free-flowing Thames. It's a good idea to sit on the same side of the boat as you did on your outward journey ensuring that you don't miss any of the sights or endless photo opportunities.
Your Skipper will dock at Westminster Pier at about 6.30pm. You can then either walk up Whitehall, passing the Cenotaph, No.10 Downing Street, Horseguards Parade and Banqueting House towards Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden or for the slightly less energetic jump on a London Bus heading for the Strand. Buses are every 2-5 minutes and the fare is £1. Walking will take about 20 minutes at a sensible pace.
Reservations for dinner at Porters English Restaurant are at 7.30pm which leaves sufficient time to either watch some expert buskers in Covent Garden Piazza, take advantage of a little more retail therapy time or enjoy a pre dinner cocktail at Porters.
Porters celebrate their 29th Anniversary this year and continue to serve some of the best homemade English food in London. Dinner is included in the total price above and consists of two courses and coffee from Porters table d'hote menu
